Friends of Children, Youth and Families, Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) that provides services to thousands of troubled children and families throughout the state of Florida.
Founded in 1992 by Willie Myles, an educator and child advocate, Friends of Children was born to be an agency that deals with the basic needs of our children and families, as well as the root causes of their dilemmas.
Initially supported only by Mr. Myles’s $7,000 of life savings, Friends of Children has evolved to become one of Broward’s premier providers of specialized services to diverse populations. In the bible, Jeremiah 8:20 reminds us that “The harvest has past, the summer has ended, & yet we are not saved”. Though we are proud of our growth and successes, we understand clearly that there is much more work to be done.
OUR MISSION
To save children by:
Helping children to live mentally and physically healthy lives;
Enhancing the likelihood of success by removing barriers and/or creating opportunities for children to succeed; an
Providing valuable skills training and supports to children and their families so that they may function without reliance on systems.
